Glass Fused Steel tank (GFS tanks) also known as Glass Lined Steel tanks (GLS tanks) that are built by using the GFS panels. These GFS panels are mild steel sheets that go through a process, where a layer of glass/silicate is fused on them. The key reason for fusing glass with steel is to enhance the overall durability of the panel. Single layered Steel is vulnerable to environmental conditions, causing earlier decomposition/corrosion of the material; hence the fusion of glass prevents that. After fusing the steel with glass, the strength increases, the acceptable bracket of PH value for alkaline solutions widens, and the resistance of abrasion inflates.

Glass Fused Steel Tank – Process and Technology
A layer of Glass is Fused into Steel tank panels which are lined inside and outside with glass enamel. The enamel is a solid, smooth, and shiny cover of silicate, fused to steel tank panels in a special furnace with temperatures ranging from 780 to 900 degrees Celsius. The steel panels that form the shell of the tanks become highly durable after they are processed with the infusion of glass coats on both the inner and outer layers of the panels. The sheets are later attached with special high-grade bolts and sealed by constantly flexible silicones (sealants).
Even the installation materials and shell accessories are processed thoroughly with surface treatment. These glass fused steel tanks are best for the storage of fluids of any nature or even solid materials. The specialty/USP of these tanks is that they are FM Global approved & are majorly being utilized as an industrial water storage tank. The GFS/GLS tanks are also a primary requirement that needs to be installed at premises dealing in environmental technology facilities like Waste Water Treatment, Fire fighting Water storage, and Anaerobic Digester Tank.
Quality Assurance and Standards
Every sheet/panel goes through thorough stringent quality checking at the manufacturing facility; for the enamel/glass layer quality by using the POROSCOPE (DEZ 4.13) and PINHOLE (DEZ 4.12) test according to DIN ISO 2746. The chemical resistance and physical properties are also tested according to DIN. Our panels even comply with the highest quality standards in accordance with the methodology by the German Enameller’s Association (DEZ). Other than that our FM Global approved tanks are best for any industrial usage.
Furthermore you can choose our Glass-coated steel tanks from four standard colours; Green (RAL 6009), Brown (RAL 8017), White (RAL 9000), and Blue (RAL 5013).
